Is the phrase “jam up” a Mississippi thing?

Never heard of it before moving out here but now seem to hear it regularly.

(i.e. People say her Christmas decorations are jam up.)

Not in that usage. I know it in reference to trouble with the police.

Jam up and jelly tight. Heard it forever ago in the hood along with “case quarter”. Not exclusive to MS.

It's common in Ascension parish. Never heard it anywhere else though. Apparently it means really good.

Heard it 55 years ago in north louisiana and south Carolina

More recently it was a lyric in rock song.

Jam up and jelly tight.

That means it is way up in there.
