Is someone only born a psychopath or can the traits develop over time?

Contempt for others, ingratiating false personality, no empathy, etc.

I have seen some good documentaries on this and it seems that they are well aware of these tendencies...they know that they have done terrible things and feel no remorse at all. they know that is not at all normal and feel that if they get out of prison, they will do the same thing again.

it is strange to hear someone freely admitting to such a thing...

I think signs present themselves in early childhood, like kids that torture bugs & frogs, then move up to animals.
Why a kid would do that or have the idea to do that baffles me, which makes me think that is something they are born with/without.

I think true psychopaths are much more rare than the OT thinks. Violent psychopaths that is.

It is something like 1% of the population that are psychopaths and probably 1% of those are violent, if that.

Eric Harris of the Columbine massacre comes to mind.

Some CEO's apparently have the same traits.

You need to differentiate between the ones that act out with violence, the ones that don't, and sociopaths. They're not all the same, but are similar in many aspects

We can stop pretending that we are remotely close to understanding how easily fricked up a human being can become, whether by nature or nurture or a combination of both. It's unsettling. We aren't there yet. We may never be. But if something is "bad" by choice or by biology or by influence it needs to be stopped. That's about all I can figure...

You're describing a significant number of OTers.

It's hard to pin people down as one thing or another because people go through different phases in their lives. Some are short, and some last a long time
