Is Long COVID real?

Or is it now the catchall for non-descript malaise?

You'll have to ask the Easter Bunny

A friend of mine was diagnosed with it. Fatigue, vertigo, nausea, inability to keep food down, headaches, organ shut down, and eventually he died from it. He was in his late 40's, reasonably good health, didn't smoke or drink.

How can it be real if covid is fake?
Posted on 11/17/22 at 12:45 pm to GumboPot
It appears to be real, but fairly rare. Some folks never fully regain their stamina after an infection with an earlier, more severe variant. There are probably studies on it, but I haven't seen them yet. But I know that some long term impacts and lingering symptoms can be pretty rough for some sensitive groups.
What's more common is that a person's ability fend of normal colds/viruses after a Covid infection (even a mild one) is weakened for several months. Even how your body responds to things that trigger seasonal allergies are jacked up for a few months. There's been some recent studies on that.

Retail makes pretty good money on this fantasy.
I guess BigParma wants to get into the fantasy action too.

Was he vaxxed?

Yes. My cousin caught long Covid. We knew he was in an at risk group due to having fibromyalgia and we tried to protect him but he still caught it
When he can get the medicine for it he’s ok but when he can’t get his medicine he has cold sweats, can barely get out of bed, nausea, etc. it’s a terrible disease and I hope y’all get vaccinated

He caught Covid pretty early on, before the shots were available, and seemed to have a mild case of it but it would not go away. He later took the shots, Pfizer I believe, but it didn't help. He went to numerous specialists, but it just slowly kept getting worse.

The second time I got covid in January of 2021, I was fatigued and on the weekends, I would take 3 hour naps for almost a year. After that, I feel back to normal.

Not only did it not help, that’s more than likely what did him in.

Who knows...his doctors were already at their wit's end. They tried all sorts of things, but nothing worked and he just slowly and steadily got worse and worse.
Poor guy, told me he woke up one night and had to pee. He didn't want to wake his wife yet again so he crawled out of bed and into the bathroom, pulled himself up to a sitting position on the toilet, did his business and then crawled back to the bed and got in. Took him two hours.

IDK but I did have a lingering cough after I had Omicron. Was annoying more than anything

Short Covid isn’t real, why the hell would long Covid be real?

My wife hasn't recovered her sense of smell in over a year. Her sense of taste isn't completely gone, but it's messed up. Some foods which taste okay to me are inedible for her. She can taste sweet things, but not salty things, for example.
