When I was in school in the 70s there were only a couple fat kids in the whole school. Fat genetics don't kick into overdrive in 1 or 2 generations

With very, very few exceptions, it is a behavioral issue. Calories in>>>calories out. 75-80% diet and 20-25% exercise. It is very hard to get people to be honest with themselves in this regard.
But, that doesn't mean people should be humiliated. No reason not to treat people with dignity and respect under any circumstance.
