If you're going at all then you need to go for your BSN. You're not gonna get rich but if it's something you really love to do then it's worth it.

Don't go work in the ER then, you'll learn to hate your fellow man.

Nope, have no desire to go that route. I don't see myself going back to patient care anytime soon.

But....good to know i can always go back when I want. It's still weird seeing my former Peds boss at all these meetings and having to interact with her from an infection control standpoint

If you are under 37 and going the BSN route, this is fantastic pay, advancement, and travel opportunities. You can even begin receiving pay while in school.

I hope, you're fricking joking. I already have my nursing fin aid ready and will start this fall. I might as well kill myslef, because I'm not taking another 2 years to get a fricking BSN degree

She's not joking. Don't plan on making any advances or having nearly as many options with an Associates degree.

I'm not aware of any reputable BSN degrees that can be had in 3 years...unless you already have all pre reqs

Exactly. Most specialty programs require a BSN at minimum.

I am an RN who has had the opportunity work in many different areas of healthcare over my career. I parlayed all that knowledge into a medical IT software sales position and now make completely stupid money...go for it. You never know where it might lead you....

The real question for me is whether it's worth paying for my SO to get her RN License when she already has her LPN and makes decent money?

Probably will quit working in about 5 years or so anyways for kids so that tells me probably not, she might go back to work once kids are grown depending on how business is going but I doubt it

All bullshite a side nursing is one hell of a hard profession and I give props to anyone in that field. Easter weekend I got to experience helping my 80 year old uncle go to the bathroom because his live in nurse couldn't do it by herself. Never mind the mental scaring I will endure from seeing my dads brother's nurse having to tuck his junk into the toilet so he didn't pee on his pants and the smell once he did his Business( I left during the clean up). The fact that she was crying when we were saying goodbye and helping her get him into his ride tells me that personal care nurses have a shitty job. There comes a time when you have been taking care of someone that you develop a bond and can't help but feeling sad when they pass.

Where is she able to work at as an LPN?? Nursing home? They did away with LPNs at most hospitals years ago. And decent money? Guarantee you she would make way more as an RN.

If she wants to work again at some point.....she should get her BSN. Unless she enjoys being severely underpaid as an LPN.
