Just curious, how much does it cost you annually to keep a horse?

If you don't have land and acreage?

It's more than $10k and less than $20k in my experience:

Board $750/mo (inlcudes hay, feed, and turnout)
Farrier $200 every 4-6 weeks depending on season
Supplements $500/yr
Vet $500/ yr minimum including vaccinations
Tack and accessories $500/yr
Travel to shows, show fees, etc. assume you use the horse as a sport horse and don't just ride it around the field. $1,500/yr
Major medical/fatality insurance policy $750/yr

Then if you want to take the horse to shows you need a trailer and a tow vehicle.

These are absolutely first world problems, but the fact remains they are very expensive pets.

What kind of scrawny useless horses are you riding? Also… they are assholes. Mine is afraid of butterflies sometimes. I’m definitely not trusting him to get me from point a to point b. Typing with a back so sore I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get out of bed tomorrow, courtesy of the horse. Didn’t fall off, he’s just a jerk.

Some folks believe what they see in the movies or on tv westerns…haha.

Some actually want to go back to those days when your life expectancy is a miserable 30 years old. Screw that.
