I was going to talk about commissions in my last post but didn't have time.

It seems pretty clear that commissions severely change the salary equation, especially if they could potentially dwarf base pay. Compensation correlates with performance, as it should be.

If someone jumps from a strictly salaried position to another for higher pay, that is an indicator of ambition and motivation. Compensation should correlate with performance/value. If someone leaves a base+commission position for one with higher base and potentially lower commissions, that could be an indicator of laziness as you pointed out. Totally different ballgame.

Still, it is silly to throw out resumes just because someone seems to be a job hopper.
