There's nothing like HP in Atlanta because Buckhead varies too much and isn't incorporated so it's still governed by City of Atlanta.

But the Buckhead neighborhoods are the HP/UP/River Oaks equivalent. Sandy Springs was essentially Buckhead for a span, so it's in that category too but the footprint is too big. The reality is that HP has few comparables anywhere.

It's definitely not Marietta or Tyrone ffs

In Buckhead you have Jackson and Morris Brandon and in Sandy Springs (Fulton County Schools) you have Heards Ferry, and they feed into iffy middle schools (not great, not terrible) and good-not-great high schools, although I think Riverwood in particular is getting there.

What is the term for a demographic that is still the largest by % population but less than 50%?
AI says it’s called a plurality.
Did you ever hear this term in any discussions?
I thought it was once called a minority majority but could see how that is confusing.
I don’t think I ever heard of plurality in media or other forums.

plurality would be correct but usually reserved for voting/polling/etc. rather than something static (like demographic levels)

I'm just catching up to this thread b/c someone made a post in mine about Atlanta demographics changing. I have family and friends in Atlanta so I'm very familiar with it. Also my cousin teaches at Midtown High.

Midtown High School is divided into 4 different worlds:. White Midtown, Black Midtown, Higher Income Midtown, Lower Income Midtown.

Students who are in the White and Higher Income Midtown groups perform extremely well and always have back when it was Grady. They have top test scores, top AP scores, top GPAs, top resumes, get acceptances to the best colleges. Their counterparts that are Black and Lower Income most often live in a completely different world and do much worse.

So the overall school score is not indicative of the true academic rigor and success stories out of Midtown High. If you remove the Black Lower Income students who usually are not in the same advanced classes and extracurricular activities as the White Higher income students you'll get much different school score results.

Also I feel by 2030 the Black population will take an even deeper dive. I know it's 47% now but I expect closer to a 10 percentage point decrease by 2030. Trump is cutting section 8 and enforcing loan repayments which heavily impacts the Black professional population in Atlanta ... yeah it's gonna drop significantly real soon. Atlanta is just too expensive ... Atlanta will be the next Harlem. Harlem was once the Black mecca and now it's not ... very diverse

I lived in Cobb County after college, and moved to Seattle in 1999 for work. I came back in 2008, and the high-end area I once knew was pretty much all Hispanic. It's insane how fast it happened.

But then...

In 2008, we moved to the Alpharetta area, and the goddamn Indian invasion is worse than the hispanic invasion ever was. Why the frick do we just welcome every fricking person that wants to come?

Got to give BT some credit though. 3 in the bottom of the 7th, then winning the state championship in the bottom of the 8th. Felt for those Cartersville kids...

The ITP portion about a 1/2 mile from I-285 southward is basically Buckhead in all but name.

Should’ve moved west of 400

Where in Cobb did you live?
