Not so much anymore. On my 06 Tundra I had to replace the whole system. Factory speakers were 2 ohm and after market head units are 4 ohm. Needed new speakers, head unit, a wiring adapter for steering wheel controls, and wiring harness to bypass factory amp.

Its not hard. I helped put one in my buddys old old toyota cruiser. We Installed everything, including mounting new speakers. Took a weekend but the majority of it was running and hiding wires.You can tie the power directly to the battery if you need to.

In your case did it interface with the car's computer also?

That's the main thing I'm worried about

The unit and proper wiring harness are all you should need. Makes it really easy.
