an hour of awkwardness via ultrasound on my balls (no pics).

I feel you. I had testicular torsion many years ago. The doc had a young gal shadowing him during the initial exam then the ultrasound tech, who was maybe 20, spent a solid 10 minutes juggling my grapefruit sized nut to get right angle. I most definitely asked her if we should have drinks or at least exchange phone numbers. My wife did not find the humor.

Worst part is your balls swell graffiti size. One of my 6 yr olds hit me in the balls. Would’ve killed him if I weren’t crying in the carpet for 30 min.

Yeah I'm not a pill person anyways. I still got Tylenol 3's in the medicine cabinet I never used from getting wisdom teeth pulled

thats why I didn't take them as well. No need to take an opioid for mild pain.

I took them the first night to help me get to sleep and boy was that a mistake. I think the best option would be some

Worst part of recovery is getting in and out of bed. You don't realize just how much you use your core muscles to do that...until you have this surgery. Other than that, no big deal.

on a side note, I still get twinges where the mesh was implanted.

The Propofol and my anesthesiologist were the best part of the experience. I understand why Michael Jackson liked it.

Getting out of bed this morning is what made me make the appointment today

I’ve had this..not going to lie man-it’s pretty rough recuperating. I was training for a triathlon and lifting weights and got one. Went from the best shape of my life to needing someone to hold my hand to get off the couch. After three days you should be able to get around on your own, but you’ll be slow moving for two weeks.

I had this repair 11 years ago. I was on my feet moving around well enough after a week. I kept wanting to hunch over. I held my side for every cough or sneeze. Eventually I got over that. I probably felt 100% after 4 weeks.

I had it on both sides and they put mesh in, but that was back in 2001. I’m sure it’s changed a lot since then.

And the recovery the next day was absolute hell, never been in more pain in my life

You can't strain and getting off the shitter isn't easy

OP take stool softeners.

Pain meds can slow bowels. You don't wanna strain after surgery.

Day two my stomach turned upside down from the pain meds and theres nothing worse than dry heaving after surgery on core muscles.
You took too much opiates. If you go by the recommended amount on the bottle, you will be hooked after 1 months usage (physical withdrawals if nothing else). Just take it as the pain is needed, though it is best to not take them if you don't really really need them.

And whatever amount you took that caused you to dry heave, take like 1/2 that amount. When I was popping opiates, I only got the dry heaves when I got too fricked up. And definitely don't drink with it as it will be a multiplier as well.

I had
It done on both sides. The 1st one was awful. But the next
One I figured out by taking some exlax two days before and emptied my bowels so I would not have to crap for a few days. Pain pills got me bad the 1st time. To the OP…. Walk walk walk as much as you can.

Pretty sure I have a hiatal hernia currently. I had the inguinal when I was 10 or so and don't remember that one. Can feel it sort of popping in and out under my top ab, very bottom of the rib cage.

Hoping I don't need surgery.

Had it 25 years ago. It wasn't awful, but you need to be aware that laughing, coughing and sneezing are extremely painful. I have zero issues now.

My guess is there have been advances in surgical techniques in a quarter century, so not too bad.

Follow doctor's orders on recovery. Don't want to undo what was just fixed.

I took the recommended dose and it was only Tylenol 3 w/ codeine. I took my first dose before bed and another when i woke up. Apparently the one on an empty stomach in the morning was a bad idea and i ended up barfing then in a spiral of pain induced heaving. I've never taken above the prescribed dose or tried them recreationally, not my thing.

Only problem I had was the anesthesiologist talked me into spinal anesthesia, which I had complications from. Hernia repair was a success though.
