Inguinal Hernia Surgery Recommendations???
I'm looking for a surgeon in either Baton Rouge or New Orleans.
Also, would you do laparoscopic surgery or open surgery(traditional)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don’t know which type of hernia you’re talking about; I assume groin.
Do laparoscopic (TEP over TAPP). less pain, smaller incision(s)

Laparoscopic for sure. Have had easy recovery from 3 abdominal lap procedures. I'm in Lafayette so can't recommend anyone.

Dr. James Morris
Baton Rouge Urology clinic
I went traditional. Only a slightly longer recovery, and greater success rate in term of less chance for a reoccurrence. It may depend on the type and severity of the hernia though, not all are the same.
Good Luck.

I had umbilical hernia surgery August 2016. Thomas Cook with the Baton Rouge clinic.
I was in for a total of 4 hours then went home. A year and a half later everything is fine. It was traditional and we chose to go without mesh.
I have done many squats since then and have had no issues.
I also dont have any noticeable scars.

Dr. Scarborough in Houston. He is one of the best in the US and operates on professional athletes all the time.
Took me 6 months to get my surgery appointment but it was worth it.

Had open surgery last summer for inguinal hernia. Supposed to have a better/longer success rate. First couple of days sucked in recovery but 3rd day could start moving around but still took about 10 days before I felt good enough to go back to work. Make sure to get some of the stronger pain meds. Also if you have a good reclining chair that would be good to use for the first couple of days so you don’t have to strain much at all when sitting up.

The hernia wasnt severe, and Umbilical Hernias ( belly button ), are usually the least problematic.

Had lap repair with the mesh to an Inguinal hernia last January. Surgeon was Dr. Froehlich (BR Clinic). Overall, I was completely underwhelmed for the first surgery of my life requiring general anesthesia. Coolest person I dealt with was the anesthesiologist. Recovery was 6-8 weeks I think. No issues to date, but I still feel some weird feelings down there occasionally.

Lap. Go with Harkness in Covington/Mandeville.

I recommend that no matter how good you feel, and no matter how big the puppy dog eyes are on your kid asking you to kick the soccer ball with him one week after, don’t. There is no soft enough.
