Infrastructure projects in planning or construction that won’t be complete by 7/4/2076

Will I be able to take the northern loop around Birmingham on America’s 300th anniversary? I would be 109 years old, so doubtful. How about my kids that will all be around 80 years old? The current projection is completion by 2048 but that is laughable based on the historical progress.

I went back and forth to GT on US 78 in 79-82.
I don't think they completed I-22 going into Birmingham until the 20-teens.

Come drive in Louisiana for a few weeks.
You’ll sing songs of praise to the Alabama DOTD

Nah. Alabama’s interstates are way worse than Louisiana’s. Especially I-59 and I-20 in Alabama

quote:This would somewhat serve as a partial loop around Baton Rouge if ever completed. A bypass from Grosse Tete across the Sunshine Bridge to Interstate 10 would do wonders.

I-49 through Arkansas may not be done before #350

Interstate 10 and US 90 between Beaumont and Orange. Maybe not even by 4076

I’m serious, man. I made a trip some South Louisiana to Gatlinburg, Tennessee recently and the sections of interstate in Alabama were by far the worst part of the entire trip.

quote:There is a current project going on where they are resurfacing and adding third lanes in portions between the western state line near Meridian all the way up towards Gadsden. It is getting a lot better but for a while was very embarrassing. Interstate 65 south of Birmingham was just as awful but is great now.

Completing Interstate 85 from Montgomery to Meridian would be another project that would be nice to progress.

I once, no bullshite, almost got in a wreck on 59 south of Gadsden because a pack of feral dogs was running across the middle of the interstate and me and this semi truck had to brake and swerve to not run into them at highway speeds.

quote:I use to do a lot of traveling at night going back and forth between job sites. After a while, noting the number of feral hogs and deer in the rural areas, I tried to keep my traveling to day light hours. Interstate 49 through Louisiana always worried me the most about feral hogs. I would sometimes see a mass group of black animals along the side of the interstate at night. I assume they were hogs.

Yeah I drove between BR and Nashville several times in the last few years and 20/59 southeast of Birmingham is straight arse. 65 North was pretty good though
