Our military be held to the rules of engagement that only our military seem to have to follow, or would it be weapons hot? And how long before the protests of the military violating their rights ??

If aliens invaded instead of just mining the belt came down our gravity well. I'd assume by that point it would be weapons hot.

I mean you're talking about clearing us out as species at that point. If it bleeds we can kill it. If it just sits up in space and herds asteroids on us or just launches relativistic projectiles at us we have zero we can really do.
