Going to keep saying it. Louisiana is going to go nuclear.
Landry and DEQ are already pushing to cut red tape as much as possible to allow it to move quickly once commercial SMRs are available.
This is awesome but nuclear still has one structural problem? Cost. Is it cheaper than electricity from natural gas?

Baw if they can safely run a nuke on a navel vessel, why not on dry land?
They can but that doesn’t stop the locals from freaking out.

Why are you acting like people are idiots for bringing this up??
A poster suggested spending billions of dollars to plant mangroves along the Louisiana coast. The very same Louisiana coast where mangroves are already naturally expanding their range. These mangroves can and will die back if exposed to freezing temperatures.
Now that it's been explained to you, do you really think it's a good investment for Louisiana to spend billions of dollars planting mangroves along it's coast?

Unlikely. LCOE projections I’ve seen published for SMRs are in the $80-90/MWh range, compared to like $40/MWh for combined cycle natural gas.
That could change over time as we add more LNG export capacity (LNG terminals will increase the price of natural gas in the US) but we are a long way off from that.

They said "mangroves and other trees. Neither I nor the original poster said "mangroves exclusively hurr durr" so I'm not sure why you're inventing that & why you want to lecture me on reading comprehension like a patronizing twat.
Mangroves are pretty much the GOATs for coastal erosion control, plant them everywhere the climate justifies, which is conveniently a large swathe of the most vulnerable, direct coastline area, then spend the rest on native spartina grass and rebuilding the inland hardwood hammocks.

OK, bright star, who was it that initially mentioned black mangroves?
Don't bother to look back, it was YOU. Did you mention any other species of trees? No, you did not.
I'm definitely not inventing that you mentioned black mangroves and no other species of tree.
But, let's hear it...what other type of trees do you suggest?
OK
I'm telling you that the climate in Louisiana does not justify the expense of planting a species that is susceptible to cold weather!
Spartina alterniflora and other native species of bunch grass are already used in restoration projects along the Louisiana coast.
You can't possibly be as dumb as you seem.
Have a great day!

Good info.

Post I replied to:

You suggested someone was an idiot for thinking mangroves might grow in LA. I pointed out that black mangroves already grow there and you're apparently salty as hell about it
You're very obviously inventing arguments dude, just take the L, give me a spiteful downvote, and move on

I inferred that it would not be a good idea to spend billions of dollars planting trees along the Louisiana coast.
I know damn well that black mangroves can be found all along the coastline of the Gulf of Mexico. There are many areas along the coast where they are not found in large numbers nor in densities significant enough to prevent widespread coastal erosion. The main reason being that they cannot thrive when exposed to cold weather.
I see that neither you, nor the other poster has suggested any other species of trees.

It appears that the source of your stupidity may be rooted in poor reading comprehension. I suggest having someone else read the simple questions and statements to you so that you can have a better understanding of them.

Man that's a helluva melt.
TL:DR, go back to your ivory tower where you never lose an argument

How can I apply for one of those plant jobs or oil jobs?
