Gentrification is simply when "privileged" people move into an area an fix it up and raise the value of houses and rent.

When it come time to sell the property you can only sell the interest you have in the property, which is 1/24* the number of children your mother had. If all the heirs of your great grand father agree to sell the property for 400k then your mother would be entitled to 1/24 of the 400k or $16666.
@$700 per month, the 1/24th owners are all getting $350 (yes, tree-fiddy) for their $16,666 legacy, inheritance, savings, investment, etc.
Can’t imagine why anyone would give up that steady annual income for a windfall of only $16,666

Imagine you are black & all your neighbors were once back.
Now all your new neighbors are the average Tigerdroppings poster.
You ever read the shite posted here? What people actually say & think when they have anonymity.
Yea, those are your new neighbors. Not the family you grew up with for 2 generations. You get fr33’ator & Kafka instead of people you share cultural camaraderie with.
Christ almighty, man- you really think this?
Who. Fricking. Cares. My neighbors could be Chechen separatists for all I know.
To imagine that black people feel any differently just typifies the worst of liberal stereotyping. You really think people in black neighborhoods are all slappin' five and eating barbecue together on the sidewalk? Having a "second line" maybe?
And then suddenly a few white people move in (or an expressway gets built) so they all feel obligated to cut it out?
This is horseshite and you should be embarrassed, and I speak from experience here.

I saw a house advertised for sale in NOLA where the white owners said they wanted to sell to a black family and they had intentionally priced the property well below market so that they could help a black family build capital and keep the neighborhood black. The property had been a rental. Of course, nothing to stop the new black owners from flipping the property to a white family and cash out immediately. They should probably just sell the house at market and give a black family $100,000. Achieve the same without paying for more real estate agent and closing costs.

Property taxes do need a capped raise percentage each year.
Isn't this the truth. I'm all about the free market, but I do feel sorry for people who have inherited a family home and are forced out due to taxes. There's just something sad about that.
Property taxes are a scam. You never actually own your property. It's just rent to the government...for-eh-ver. They should really only increase when ownership changes.
