They decided WAY too quickly for them to not have decided the death penalty.

they're just deciding guilt or innocence today... death or life in prison will be decided later (though by the same jury)

I know. But I am still surprised how quickly they came back.

That isn't being decided today. If he is found guilty on any charge with the death penalty, they will have a completely new trial on whether or not he actually gets the death penalty.

Juror 229 really might frick it up.

Having his own lawyer admit he did it helps a lot in removing reasonable doubt.

Liz Norden is here. Her two sons each lost a leg in the bombings.

There were still 30 counts they needed to decide on. But yeah, not the most complicated case to figure out.

He kinda looks like a real life Jafar in some of the sketches I've seen of him.

I've been lobbying for them to hang him up in the Boston Common like in the old days.

We could sell tickets and give the proceeds to his victims' families.

Yea, this was really never about this phase of the trial. His attorney is legendary for keeping high profile killers off of death row -- even when they want to die.

quote:

Clarke most recently defended Jared Loughner, the man behind the Tucson shooting rampage in 2011 that killed six people and injured a dozen others, including Representative Gabrielle Giffords, his target.

She defended Theodore John “Ted” Kaczynski, known as the Unabomber, for the nationwide bombing campaign that killed three people. She also represented Atlanta Olympic bomber Eric Rudolph and Susan Smith, the South Carolina woman who murdered her three children.

In each of those cases, the defendants were found guilty, but Clarke helped them escape the death penalty, and it will undoubtedly be her priority as she embarks on the Tsarnaev case, according to legal observers who described an in-depth, complex, and drawn-out process in capital cases.
