we got a safety girl who knows nothing (ugly too)
i think she makes around 65K.

$65k is probably on the low end of that field and would be some really new person.

Yep the old timers can pretty much demand that kind of pay, all without needing the CSP, CIH, master's degree and other credentialing that the new guys need to make only a 1/4 of that.

It's political my friend. But if you're serious, just go down to Broussard and go door to door asking for applications.

Have a degree and get on with a operator and 100K is not that hard to hit. I know 2 that make a lil over it and both have been out of school going on 4 years.

just out of curiosity what do you consider a frickload? I worked out of the HSE department for several companies and never considered safety department as making THAT much. Of course i could be wrong.

I'm ALMOST positive the office safety guys make around 80K. Policy/procedure and occasional offshore trips. I could be wrong though. THese are salary, not the hourly field that get OT.

I don't know too much about offshore or office safety guys but the ones that I've met in the field that do SCBA for H2S and just general safety and whatnot all made ~$125k.

Also, if any of you youngsters are looking to break out in the patch I just got a call today from a friend looking for hands. They are hiring and if you put in an app, pending a decent driving record and no felonies, you're pretty much guaranteed to get on.

It's long hours, far from home, and you'll work your dick in the dirt but if you're looking for a job apply to Swire Oilfield Services in Midland, TX. If anyone needs contact info let me know. Money is decent, accomodations are good, and company trucks are plentiful. Schedule is 21/7, 12 hour shifts.

Right now, construction safety is big in Louisiana with all the new plants being built and will be for the foreseeable future.

There are so many random support jobs where you can make bank. I was on pace to make around 100k with no experience as a frac site fueler before I got hurt. Easy freaking job, not even a hint of experience needed. My first check for 7 days was $2700.....course I worked 110 hours to get there.

The oil field right now is so hurting for jobs, if you claim to be unable to find a job in South Louisiana or East Texas, you're lying. And like you said, plenty of $$$ jobs out there if you're willing to work.

Time actually working was only about 35 hours. The rest is spent sitting/sleeping in the truck, or driving to and from the site. Cake job.
