I have been married for twelve years, and it has been a very rocky twelve years. Recently, a friend sent me a link to a Reddit page for loved ones of those with BPD. I stayed up half the night reading stories from survivors and those still enduring the difficulties of being in a relationship with someone who has BPD. Reading these stories felt like I was coming out of a fog. Suddenly all of the confusion of the previous decade-plus made sense.

But now I'm second guessing myself as I read about these symptoms. Many of the things that I read about and think to myself - holy shite my wife does that all the time, are also things that my wife ACCUSES me of all the time. So am I projecting my shite on to her? Or is she the one with the mental illness? Maybe we're both crazy?

I'm trying to objectively self-evaluate my memories of the last twelve years, but now I'm wondering if maybe I'm the fricked up one? Do crazy people know they're crazy? is the question I keep asking myself.

Obviously for real answers I need to seek competent medical assistance, but I am curious about the anecdotal experiences that some of you on this board may have.

Standing by for sarcastic and genuine replies, and no you guys cant have a picture of my wife. She's an OT 10, trust me.

Maybe ask your close friends what they think. I’m sure they’ve been around you when the shite hits the fan and can give you an honest opinion on which one of you actually has a problem and starts shite.

Every time I have this thought, I tell myself that an actual crazy person wouldn't question themselves like that so I must not be crazy

You're both crazy. Therapy works wonders.

I don’t think crazy ppl know they are crazy
But I do think they have a tendency to say that other people ‘aren’t right’ or are crazy

called gaslighting and manipulation.

you need to run BAW. Run the frick away. take the 12 years as a learning experience. some lessons are more expensive than others.

Been dealing with it for a couple of years now and I highly recommend this book:

If you can get your wife to come to grips with this disorder the best option is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

I was in a relationship with a lady with BPD and there is no doubt they will make you question reality and make you think you're wrong and you're the crazy one. They have a magic ability to convince you and explain away your thoughts and suspicions. Like a previous poster said ask your close friends. they should hopefully give you honest feedback.

She's gaslighting you and projecting. Have seen it a bunch with friends' relationships, specifically my best friends' last two relationships.

My daughter was diagnosed with this and the therapy made her worse. I do not trust this diagnosis and never did.

I think people spend too much time overanalyzing themselves and those around them.

I do believe there are mental issues needing to be addressed, but I also believe it is the lifestyles that is permeating throughout America that causes some of the issues and chemicals we eat or drink. This is not me saying hey buddy, go out and run that depression away. It's not the only answer to addressing mental issues, but it is a solid one that could help many.

Being active, getting outside a lot and soaking that sun in, eating right, making healthier choices, etc. could help so many people alone.

My ex wife hence ex has all of the above. RUN BAW....You have came to the right place. Just be ready to fork out some child support change and then some to get your life back on track and be there for your kids and not a dead beat. Walking on egg shells every time you come home from work is not a way to live life.
