A woman in Metairie called 911 Friday night (Dec. 7) and reported that she had shot her husband, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, inside of a brick home along Transcontinental Drive.

The shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. in the 2900 block of Transcontinental, said JPSO spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde. Responding officers arrived to the 2900 block of Transcontinental to find the man fatally wounded and his wife who had called 911 still at the scene.

Addressing reporters late Friday, Lopinto said the woman was being transferred to a JPSO facility to be questioned by detectives as part of the investigation, which remained in its very early stages. He said no arrests had been made and a motive had not been established. He said JPSO was not searching for any suspects.

“This was not a random act,” he said. “The person actually called and admitted to shooting her husband."
