Like I said, I don’t smoke. I just think that a bar should be a haven
And restaurants too, right?
And airplanes.

But damn, seems like a bar is where one should be able to smoke.
Great idea. You should buy your own bar and let people smoke cigarettes inside of it every night.

That’s the point. An establishment should be able to set it’s own rules. Not have the state force them down its throat

About the stupidest stance someone could take when it comes to this subject.

It’s a legal product. There are cigar bars. Why shouldn’t a bar choose whether or not to allow smoking? People are free to patronize it or not.

To be clear, you want the government out of health regulation in private businesses that cater to the public.

No. I’m saying that if there is a legal product, to buy from any convenience or grocer, then why shouldn’t it be up to the discretion of the bar whether they allow it or not? I mean they are selling alcohol, children aren’t allowed. So why shouldn’t a bar owner choose to have a smoking or non smoking establishment?
No one is forced to patronize it or work there. I believe adults should be able to make their own choices without the nanny state imposing itself

It is a proven carcinogenic for not only the user but for those who breathe the smoke from that user. It is only logical it would be banned from use in public places.

Public health hazard.
Same reasons bars/restaurants have to keep a clean kitchen and aren't allowed to lace your food with legal, but potentially harmful, products.
I stand with allowing private businesses to do what they want, but it is a health issue. Same reason there are the oyster warnings and that industry has to be regulated so heavily now.

Smoking is disgusting and so 1950. A bar is for drinking. It is socially repugnant.

But OP feels that smokers (not him of course) are entitled to smoke in a bar.

And alcohol contributes to cirhossis of the liver, heart disease, etc.
High fructose corn syrup contributes to obesity, diabetes etc.
Raw shellfish and seafood can give food poisoning and salmonella.
People with severe peanut allergies can die from exposure.
When does your nannying and desire to control the behaviours of others stop and personal responsibility start?
Why can cigar bars exist but not a bar that allows smoking? Why should bars exist at all?

I’m just arguing that it should be left up to the owner of the bar.

In moderation this does not hold true.
There is no amount of cigarette smoke that is deemed ok.

Government regulates these two already.

Maybe the govt should limit how much of those you consume too. Perhaps they should prohibit it for your own good, to save you from yourself

Aren't they more protecting the innocent and unsuspecting? Not so much worrying about the person killing themselves with tobacco, but killing others.
Not sure there is second hand cirrhosis

Right. OP is a trashy bitch complaining about not being able to smoke on someone else’s property. Go to the low bar if you require indoor smoking privileges.

I don’t smoke, and am perfectly fine with business owners enacting their own policy regarding smoking how they see fit for their customer base, but that’s not what’s going on of course. There’s no option but no smoking. Welcome to pussy America that now makes business decisions for the private sector based on what they feel they want. They don’t want to go elsewhere and let the free market work it out on it’s own, which it would have. They want to change the rules. That’s what I don’t like about the whole thing. It leaves for no other option for people, and that’s not really very much in the spirit of what it means to be an American to me. But to hell with it. Everyone wants to rule the world these days. They’ll eventually screw themselves out of every liberty they have before it’s all over with anyway.
