Sober people do dumb shite as well. That's why they start back drinking so they can have an excuse.

Life is too short to dwell on unpleasant thoughts. Get back on the horse and make the most out of your life going forward.

Most of the people on this board dont have the strength or steadfastness to stay away from alcohol for long periods of time, so you won't get many qualified answers.

About stuff that you never felt bad about before?
I did. First few weeks were awesome but all that stuff you repressed with alcohol finally catches up. I still have some guilt.

I haven't been drunk in a few years, whereas I used to rage out a few times a week. I've done immoral things, and I got over them in real time. When weighed against the rest of my life actions, they are insignificant and most others are pieces of shite in their own right.
Regular drunkenness, not just drinking, past your early thirties is indicative of mental health problems. Any mentally stable human should be able to consume a glass of wine with dinner without lusting for more. As Vette said, control your drinking, don't let it control you.

It could be anxiety caused by whatever dependency you had on the alcohol. I'm just speculating. I really have no idea what I'm talking about.
This is likely the problem. Were you drinking to mask depression or anxiety? If so, you should seek talk therapy and help from your pmd in this process. md may be able to prescribe Lexapro or something like it to help with withdrawal.
