I remember seeing them a lot back in the day... it's something that stood out because of how odd it looked.
That is laminated glass, I think you are a little mistaken, it doesn't cut like normal glass.

They can take it off pretty easy these days. And most will come to you and change the windshield. Had mine done in my garage a few weeks ago. Only problem is he stuck the inspection sticker back on and it's crooked so I tilt my head when I'm driving.

No it doesn't. but...(now this was probably 25 years ago) they sure as shite cut a perfect square out of mine by cutting both sides with a glass cutter and a razor on the plastic film in between. Oh yeah... first he cut off the corner, then squared it off.

glass co peeled the old one off and applied it to the new windshield
