In my case (Samsung washer), it will not. However, I did a clever little bit of Afro-Engineering and folded a small piece of cardboard and put it in the lock slot, and lo and behold, 60% of the time, it works everytime.

Probably not. While you wait on a new one to come in you can close the circuit to get it to work.
