Yes, women are competitive, but you don't want to show up at a nice event, not looking your best. And it's competitive when you're there and your significant other and other men are looking at other women, making eyes or side comments about them. We wouldn't feel the need to

But on formal occasions I think I look great wearing a nice dress, pretty hair, and two swipes of mascara (or not)
If I wear makeup it makes me uncomfortable.

Lol just viewing the comments made by men on the different boards on here can cause a bit of uncertainty. I remember seeing a thread where men criticized Kate Upton for being a whale as someone put it. I personally think she's beautiful, almost like Marilyn Monroe, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose
