It would suck…. 18-20 year old kids today are not close to being ready for combat… most would not make it through the 1st week of boot camp.

It should be universal conscription. The one and only dodge is that if you opt out you automatically vote against the incumbent Presidential party and (if they voted for the war) your Senators and Representative.
That way everyone who thinks the war is a good idea can be the cannon fodder.

I doubt we'll see a draft again, but I believe you are liable for service up to age 35.
