Wikipedia tells me it's only Vermont and Washington, DC.

That was enlightening.

Except that it isn't true. Vermont and DC only.

I have often wondered why more people don't just "disappear" robbers when they kill them at home. It's not like they tell anybody else which home they are going to rob. If nobody sees you kill them why not just plant them in the flower bed, especially if you live out in the country?

Why cover up something that’s not illegal thereby putting yourself in a position to be accused of murder and, in fact, doing something illegal?

You are not this stupid are you? You cannot catch someone in your car in your yard and then chase them down and shoot them. You cannot catch someone inside you house then chase them outside and shoot them while they are running away. Now if you are inside your car, say at a red light. Someone comes up and opens your door you can shoot them. ( in Louisiana your car is by law a extension of your home ) if someone climbs through a window or kicks in your door or is in your home when you come home you can shoot them. You can even shoot them
If they are on your property and threaten you.

Common misunderstanding, in Louisiana your car is a constitutionally protected area, not a extension of your home. There are many differences, one being a warrant is required to search your home, law enforcement can search your car with only probably cause.

This is one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen on here. That's quite an accomplishment

I was once staying at somebody and there were multiple apartments with the same number and I was turning the door knob with a key in the wrong door and a lady was screaming at me, could have got shot then

I hear what your saying, but you have to work on your phrasing. By the literal terms of your subject line, if, say, a 10 year old girl broke into your house because she was running away from someone or to get out of a storm or for some similar reason and you found her cowering in the corner totally unarmed and helpless, you would have a right to kill her.

This is an interesting concept. Remember Rodney Peairs(sp) the dude that shot Yoshi Hatori OUTSIDE his house in BR in the driveway? Hatori was unarmed and doing Halloween stuff and it was still twilight and he was looking for directions. Jury found him not guilty. Jury inTexas finds one guy not guilty for shooting a burglar at his neighbor’s house in the back as he’s running away from the EMPTY house. Jury in Texas convicts a guy of voluntary manslaughter for killing an ARMED burglar in his OWN house. I cannot explain this to a client in trouble as it is a roll of the dice.

The judge that heard the civil suit didn't see it the same way, he awarded the plaintiff $650K, the judgment pretty much destroyed Peairs' life from what I have heard and read.

Well, he did not got to prison. It destroyed the Hatori family’s life/lives. I cannot imagine how those people must have felt learning their beloved son half a world away was shot dead by a trigger happy a-hole who eventually paid no criminal sanction for what he did. You want $650k for your child? No excuse and it’s going to happen again.
