Ibotta won't offer booze discounts in Louisiana

Ibotta, an app that basically works like coupons only you get discount later, won't have beer any longer.
I got this email
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, Ibotta has been required to immediately remove all beer rebates in the state of Louisiana for the time being. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. We appreciate your understanding!"
Why is this? Proposed "sin" taxes on liquor in budget probably at the root of it.
This is quite disturbing

It is against the law in Louisiana to offer coupons on beer purchases. You can give a dollar off a bag of Kingsford if you buy a 12pk of beer but can not discount the beer itself via coupon.

Interesting. So they have been operating illegally for years? No coupons but stores can simply put beer on sale instead of using s coupon. Odd timing it happened today

Yeah that sounds like a great plan.

large beer companies did it for years then one day all of a sudden Murphy sent out a letter and said it was illegal because someone (smaller local brewer) reported it. I am sure someone just finally let the ABC board know about it and they sent a letter. They are too busy writing MIP's and raiding bars to worry about coupons.

Can't advertise sales on alcohol either, I don't think.
