I wish we'd send more people to the moon

I just got done watching Apollo 13, I feel like there's so much we can learn through space exploration. I grew up always wanting to be an astronaut and loving everything science. I wish we invested more into nasa while letting the private sector grow. Elon musk is doing a great job, but still I miss it when nasa used to be on top

Space X is experiencing growing pains
No one will remember them when space tourism literally takes off

And what happened? YOU'RE A PART OF THE PROBLEM!

I agree, selected minorities should be put on other planets.

I just want them to invent the warp drive. Until then it all just seems a little pointless.

I know a few people i wish would go to the moon. One way ticket.
Seriously though, what is on the moon to benefit us?

Moon base to mine and manufacture rocket fuel to reach further into the solar system.

Research and astronaut training center..launchpad to the stars, etc

Huge ROI. Something like $14 pumped into the economy for every $1 spent on NASA projects.

Ok i get that. But that isnt "sending people to the moon" to walk around, collect rocks, drive a rover.
That is building something badass, which i am all for.
It would be much easier to go to mars (or wherever) from the moon, less gravity to deal with

We've learned that planet Earth is where humans belong.

NASA and the moon missions were a thing of beauty. It gave the entire country something to rally around and cheer for. It gave all of the best minds the ultimate challenge. It gave the kids a reason to want to stay in school.
frick i would have loved to have seen it live. U.S. and Russia in a battle of whits and resources, with all of the heaviest hitters at play, and us taking the grand prize with slide rules and drafting paper.
We need that again. That's what made us great.

And that's true...until the day we figure out how to get ourselves to that other planet or planets

We can't ignore the amount of research that goes into sending human beings into space, we have no idea how pharmaceutical drugs work with gravity. Can we at least start a moon colony!

We are, as it is currently planned. However there are not many flights on the flight manifest. I see what's being built now in preparation for the first SLS flight, and I feel like it will happen. It may not happen on time due to different presidents, congress, etc. It has a lot more traction than the Constellation program had.

Russia beat us into space.
