Yeah, I'm thinking Red Forman is the modern equivalent of Archie Bunker.

Best episode was when he met Stivic for the first time. When Archie starts singing I lose it every time.

Archie wasn’t racist out of hate; in his realm his beliefs were justified.
A lot of people were (are) like Archie

Same with George Jefferson. I think both characters are hilarious and products of their times. It was a riot when a scene had them in the same room together.

Hell, I see a lot of my grandfather in both characters. He used to yell at my grandmother like George and Archie yelled at Louise and Edith. He used to get uncomfortable with visitors who didn't look like him. He liked to think he was "the man of the house", but would often lose out on most arguments. Yet he still remained committed to his family like those characters did.

None of these men were inherently hateful or intolerant. They were just men of a different era raised with a different worldview, and if someone can't appreciate them for what they were at that time, that's their problem.

He was red pilled but he didn’t come off as particularly intelligent. I’m 31 and I can think of some better people to identify with.
