Why did all of the King's horses and men care?

Why did the king send every single man and horse at his disposal to try and put humpty together again?

Who was thus humpty? And why was he so important?

Dude, he was a sentient, talking egg... I'd imagine he was a pretty big deal.

Humpty Dumpty was a Jesus ( that where the easter egg comes from) so the effort to restore the body of Christ was the attempt of the Western World to retake Jerusalem to the Christians

thats bullshite,, but pretty damn good for off the top of my head

I just feel like the horses were really hurting the effort. They don't have fingers and were just out there with their hooves making a real mess.

Humpty Dumpty was a metaphor to explain to lay folk about the early Christian Church's schism with Orthodoxy. Despite all of the efforts of royal families throughout Christendom, the Roman and Constantinople-based branches could not be put back together.

It would only get worse with the Reformation in the Roman Catholic sphere.

Upon reflection it might make one pause when considering religion in general.

Something that is interesting to think about is that although Humpty Dumpty is usually depicted as an egg at no point is that ever mentioned in the poem.

Was he an egg though? Never once in the poem is it mentioned that he is an egg.
