I have a CSB to share with the OT

Early yesterday morning, my uncle passed away after his long, hard fought battle with melanoma. It was a long day to say the least, but my family was finally able to find some relief and peace knowing he is no longer suffering and is in a better place. Still a very sad day nonetheless.
Last night, I invited my cousin (his son) over to have a drink, talk, take his mind off it, etc. This cousin and I grew up as brothers practically, so I was very happy to be able to spend this time with him and celebrate his dad's life for a few brief hours, just us two. There was no crying, no anger, just happiness in the reminiscing.
Scrolling through Facebook right before bed, I see a post made by one of my best friend's mom. It was regarding my friend's younger brother, an 18-year-old kid who was been battling severe brain tumors and other medical hardships for the better part of 12 years. Truly the most resilient and optimistic kid I have ever known. Four years ago, he nearly passed during a surgery, and his condition has nearly got the better of him on numerous occasions. As it turns out, her post was to let us know that her son is completely tumor free at last. All the years of suffering and battling had finally amounted to something. I seriously could not believe what I was reading, and it was not until this point that the emotions of the day took over and the waterworks began.
I wanted to share this with the OT. I don't know if what happened yesterday was a coincidence, an act of God, or what have you, but it was one of those days I will remember for the rest of my life. It moved me in a way I have never been moved before. If you or someone you love is going through a similar situation, just know there is hope. And even when that hope is slim, never give it up.
God Bless all of you.

While I am sorry for your loss, I am also glad to hear the great news. The 18 year old has a whole life ahead of him..

so your cousin lost his dad and this other kid was cured. color me an a-hole but when my dad was having his troubles, i didn't like hearing happy ending stories cause i wasn't sure my dad's was going to turn out the same. It didn't either. I mean i'm happy for the kid and thats great but if i just lost my dad to cancer, this wouldn't really comfort me at all.

And I did not share it with my cousin for this very reason. It moved me though personally, with all of it happening within the same day. At the end of a very sad day, I received incredible news: I witnessed a life taken away and then witnessed a life given. This post wasn't to comfort anyone and I am sorry for your loss, Chad. I cannot imagine losing my father.
