You left a laptop that cost over 1k in a vehicle overnight. Outside of very rural areas that's pretty much a no no in any city. I hate a thief but you're also a dumb arse

He is right - there is nothing trashier than nouveau faire wannabes up to debt in their $400k custom built home and 2 high end vehicles that are on 84mt car notes, while only bringing in a combine income of $120k. That's Baton Rouge in Nut shell.

-You were stupid enough to leave something you valued in your vehicle after two previous break ins.
-Wherever this person stays has some connection to a bad part of town.. I'm betting mid city.
-I would bet a weeks pay you left your vehicle unlocked.
I do not care where you live when you're not visiting BR. I'm positive there are break ins in your little town.
Take responsibility for your bad decisions.

I'm guessing you called 911 and then were transferred to city police dispatch. Then to the district where the breakin occurred.

This. I mean it sucks that you can't leave valuables in your car in a lot of places in BR but OP sounds like a dumbass who can't learn a lesson. I grew up in the GD and learned from a very young age to take anything valuable from your car if you plan to park on the street. I'd imagine most cities are too different in that sense
