Why isn't the Super Bowl played on a Saturday? There's no more college football. People have fricking work Monday morning. I'd like to drive into br to see the game with some friends I haven't seen in a long time, but I'm conflicted about drinking and just driving back home in general after the game. (About an hour and a half ride). It just doesn't make any sense to me.

I wish it was Saturday too, but nothing else is on Sunday so it'll stay there. It's the same reason the national title is on a weekday

Game starts at 3:30 here.

You don't have to watch it and you most certainly don't have to get sloppy drunk while watching it. Also, it ends at 10. I go to bed after 10:30 and wake up to go work on time every other day.

Money, the NFL doesn't want people leaving the host cities on Sunday. They want them there the till Monday.
Thursday-Monday >> Thursday-Sunday

I've read (can't remember the source) that it has to do with advertising dollars. As you said, you're less likely to go to a friend's house and get plastered because you have to get home at a reasonable hour for work.
So less drunk people staying home means more eyes on the screen when the $5 million commercials come on.

Who said anything about sloppy, you don't need to be sloppy to get a dwi in this state. I don't drink and drive anymore. The consequences are too high.

Why not just take off work the Monday after?

Normally I would do this, but I work in sales. This is already a short month. That coupled with Mardi Gras falling at the end of it makes it even shorter as far as selling days go. I can't afford to not hit my goals.

Are you a fan of either team? I don't see why this game would be cause for a Sunday night drunk fest unless you've got a vested interest in the outcome.

Because it's called super bowl SUNDAY.

Money. The football tourists spend a ton of money on the two nights before the SB.

I would greatly prefer it on Saturday as well. I went in to work yesterday for a few hours so that I can just show up tomorrow and not get behind for the week.

Agree maybe trump can get this done for us

I find it hard to believe that anyone could actually be a Falcons fan.

Been hoping for this for years. I may even watch it again if it'd be on a Saturday. (Not that the NFL cares if I watch or not) Even if one of the teams I pull far isn't playing in it.
The Super Bowl on a Sunday has always been just "blah".
