quote:no and tbh if they did, there would be several hundreds if not thousands of drivers quitting. However the industry is going more towards them. Many companies are using them now. I get it but I'm old school and don't want a camera watching me.
Does your company have driver-facing cameras?
They will go off if you crawl slowly thru a stop sign. You have to come to a complete stop. You cant turn faster than 20mph(dangerous) or it will go off, if you wreck it go off, sudden hard breaking it will go off, if your eyes wander for a few seconds off the road, the camera will go off etc. If you hold your cell phone it will go off. It's all designed to make you a better driver until you get harassed by your employer for setting it off. The paranoid driver will perform under pressure because of the inward facing cameras. You never wrecked or got a ticket in years, got the job done but your getting chewed out for setting off the camera then you get fired. It's weird.

drive locally now. I will say this, sleeping in an ice cold sleeper after driving for 10 hours is the best sleep you will ever get. It’s like being back in your mama’s womb.

quote:good samaratians who allow you to get over when switching lanes across a multi lane area and your trying to switch 5 lanes to exit. tbh the 58mph in a 70 or 75mph zone causes more delay than anything I've watched while driving. All you can go also is 68mph and a car passes you at 110 shooting you the bird.
Anything the non truck drivers do that help or really piss you off?
Other than cutting you off as you drive down the new bridge? (We’re not going to stop that THERE)

You drive a semi-truck.
Why would I ask you anything?

wonder about the longevity of being a truck driver. I think I saw you are in your 30s; do you think you'll be able to do this for 25 more years? If so, what type of retirement are you looking at?
Did you want to be a truck driver as a kid or did you fall into it out of necessity?
Have you ever witnessed a fight between truck drivers at a stop and if so, let's hear about it.
I will eventually switch to a daily position tanker/delivering fuel making decent money. Yeah I'll do it. It's easy work and keeps me focused all day. Ill quit around 60. Maybe 4/500k in retirement then ss to add eventually. I just put away money into my retirement acct. It's solid. My dad was in oilfield and always wanted to be a trucker but never switched. I left another field to be a truck driver. When you drive, its freedom, you get to see places you've never seen, when your away from home, you speed weekends at places you can venture out and enjoy etc. It has it perks. I've been to Panama city, 3 different six flag places, south padre, most major cities. Can get dressed and go eat at a nice restraint etc. Most company terminals I stay at on weekends im not home have hotels so I get to get out of the truck. They have everything. Never saw a fight lol not once. Most all truckers are courteous of each other. Once I had a guy try to stand in a parking stall while I was backing to park for the night and I had to get out tell his dumb foreign arse to move and he acted all paniced like I was going to hit him. He was trying to hold the spot for his teamate who was getting fuel. That's not how it works lol. I fueled up already and was getting that spot.

I guess I never pass thru Atlanta on 20 tbw and the 285 isn't any different than the 635 in Dallas or 610 in Houston. I20 going thru Atlanta is pretty bad but not like Austin. That stretch of i35 has 6 or more lanes at times of pure craziness. This is driving a semi now. Especially at night is a nightmare for a novice driver esp. Top or bottom 35, take your pick. 410 in San Antonio is mad with congestion but they don't seem to be as crazy driving. I've heard people compare Austin i35 traffic to California(L.A.) crazy.
So you are taking the south side of 285 by the airport, and not the north side I presume.

Why is a 379 Pete the best truck ever made?
I like the Pete's because of size is bigger than the other 4 trucks we have online and the wider wheel base on the road. My next truck.

My son is has been a truck driver for the last 12 years. He has told me that no amount of money can tempt him to drive North of North Carolina due to congestion. Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, Boston and New York City are the worst. Now e has a dedicated route along I 10 and I 20 and occasionally gets on a California to Dallas to Houston to Florida route.
