The people who typically hate on travel ball are the parents who weren’t ever good enough athletically to participate in any sport at a more advanced level. It’s common, and I see it quite often.

I played on a full athletic scholarship.

I hate travel ball.

Lots of benefits to both but not the same at all.

And I am sorry you are uncoordinated.

a. not all coding competition involves individual competition. there is teamwork involved in big projects/competitions

b. when you break it down, it's all the same. it all boils down to mastery and the path to get there

coding, team sports, individual sports, math, chess, dancing, it doesn't matter.

If you can’t see the difference between coding and sports I’m not sure what to tell you.

My step-daughter is starting her 3rd and last year of AAU basketball. She plays on a very good Nike affiliate team. We spend around $4000 to $5000 each year. She committed to a P5 school last week, so it worked out for us. The 12 to 15k we spent wouldn’t pay for one semester of tuition, books, room & board where she is going. Plus they pay her $6000 a year in cost of attendance money. I understand mutual funds and there ain’t one out there that will give me that return.

That’s debatable. Putting that money into a 529 for her entire life until it was time for college would have yielded a better return in betting and you wouldn’t have had to watch shitty aau basketball for years

Stop with this BS. It’s their money. How do you know it would have yielded a better return? There is more to a “return” than a % of their cash investment.

Likewise if you can’t see the principle is the same.

So in your opinion learning to code teaches the same principles as a team sport?

Asians do this with studying/testing/violin lessons. Maybe if travel ball families would put as much effort into their kids educations, and just stay local for games.

it's the stupid live vicariously thru them so they can be a "big leaguer" attitude. Pretty sad actually

Asians are living vicariously through the violin, etc. what’s the difference?
