I-10 and I-210 in Lake Charles

They started the work on I-10 to prepare for the redecking of the 210 bridge. I-10 East bound is one lane from the bridge to the 171 merge. My commute from Sulphur to JD Parish this evening took an additional hour and 20 minutes. The next 2 years are really gonna suck.

Actually, i lived there for 11 years and I work almost one day a week in BR. The worst I have been caught in was this past November when it took about 3 hours (about double the normal) to get home from BR. Tonight it took me almost an hour to get on the interstate from Swisco Rd.

I’m seriously thinking of flying to Corpus to hunt South Texas this year. 9 HRs each way is a pain in the arse. I would just fly private but I recently found my dream job and gave up 50% of my salary.

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that construction work on I-10 in Lake Charles is scheduled to begin on March 3, weather permitting. After almost 60 years of service, the expansion joints on I-10 need maintenance work will upgrade I-10 to handle the traffic volume anticipated during the upcoming I-210 redecking project. The $8.5 million project on I-10 is expected to last approximately 4 months, weather permitting. All construction work will take place between the west side of the Calcasieu River Bridge and Opelousas Street.
Work will begin in the eastbound lanes of I-10. The outside lane will remain open while construction takes place in the inside lanes. Once complete, traffic will move to the new construction while repairs are completed in the closed outside lane. The westbound lanes will follow a similar pattern. Lane closures will be in effect on a 24/7 basis.
Motorists are advised to use I-210 as a detour while work takes place.
Please note the best times to travel through the area would be between 09:00 – 15:00, as anything before and after would have you waiting in traffic due to all the expansion work force.
Please share accordingly!

Last Sunday I was going westbound on I 10 in LC. It was terrible. I put my truck in park while waiting several times.
