A 35-year-old Blount County woman is behind bars after authorities say she shot her husband's arm with a shotgun and then bit a lawman during her arrest.

District Attorney Pamela Casey today announced charges against Stacey Gladden. The Cleveland woman was arrested Saturday after the attack on her husband.

Authorities said Gladden shot her husband with a shotgun at his home. The injury was so severe, Casey said, the husband's arm had to be amputated. After the shooting, Gladden left the couple's Highway 160 home and drove to the Busy Bee in Allgood. When officers went to arrest her, she tried to take a gun from an officer and bit him on the finger.

Casey praised the work of law enforcement officers from the Blount County Sheriff's Office and the Oneonta Police Department.

Gladden is charged with attempted murder in the wounding of her husband, and second-degree assault for the injury to the officer. She is being held without bond in the Blount County Jail pending a mental evaluation.

Blount County trails only Walker County in white trash.

Even the people that live in Blount County don't want to be in Blount County

I'd rank Cullman and Etowah ahead of Blount. And above them all I'd rank the meth capital of Alabama, Jackson Co.

Meth is not the big issue around there any more. There's still plenty of meth heads, but the cops have put a big dent in the problem of meth.

Now it's cheap, yet highly potent, heroin coming in from Mexico. It all started with the explosion of prescription drug abuse. People got hooked on pills and once they either lost their source or could not afford them any longer, here comes cheap heroin back on the market as an alternative. A friend of mine who knows the coroner down there told me they've seen a huge spike in heroin overdoes and deaths the past few years.

Does she live on 100-acre compound and recently inherited some money from her mom who passed from Alzheimer's and her and her husband were arguing over how to spend the money?

Two things you will not find in Cleveland, Alabama.

1. Any 100 acre compounds
2. A lot of money

I got it. I was just ripping on Cleveland. It's pretty much a shite hole "town" (I'm using that term lightly here) that's only redeeming quality is you can stop there for gas halfway between Guntersville and B'ham.

I'm not so sure. Sounds like she's not one to take no for an answer very well.

That's deep into Meth Territory.Off to one side of Sand Mountain, aka Meth Mountain.

Chicken Houses and Meth Labs.A stinking arse place.

Lots of Espanol. In Fort Payne there's a street in the old Town where all the businesses are Mexican run and the signs are in Spanish.

A lot of Mexico produced Meth makes it there.

eta: You're right on the Heroin Darth.I've never seen Heroin, and I've seen a lot of shite in my days.

From what I'm hearing from my 32 year old Nephew, Heroin is out there. He's had at least 2 friends OD this year from, probably Fentanyl or Heroin.IV of course.

They cover shite up in Gadsden. The only way to get true information in this Town is by word of mouth.Gadsden may be the worst I've ever seen about the "Teletype,Telegraph, and Tell Aunt Bea" thing.

I've heard people talking about Fentanyl lately as well. The big problem though is heroin. And the bad thing about it is the cops and DA's around here are still obsessed with meth while a Heroin epidemic is in the beginning stages. The friend of mine (actually my barber) who was telling me about talking to a guy from the coroner's office told me that in the past few years we've seen zero meth related deaths but have seen a huge spike in heroin OD deaths.

I'm not too far from Gadsden either. In fact I go there myself quite a bit. But I was not aware it was like that there.
