The latest plane is in the storm. Should be getting some updated information soon.

Another plane left San Antonio about 20 minutes ago.

The message:

Dear LSU Families,

LSU sent the following message to students today, and we wanted to share it with you.

Sunday, August 29, 2021
1:45 p.m.

Dear LSU Community,

LSU will be closed on Tuesday, Aug. 31, due to the expected impacts of Hurricane Ida. We will keep you posted on when we plan to reopen once we assess the campus after the storm.

Essential personnel should check with their supervisors about their schedules for Tuesday.

Residence Halls will remain open and on-campus residents should follow the instructions of Residential Life staff regarding obtaining extra takeout meals in advance of the hurricane, as the Dining Halls will not be accessible during the storm. Visit the LSU Dining website and LSU Dining social media for more details on meal availability.

Please shelter in place during the storm, and do not go outdoors, as flying debris and other hazardous conditions will exist. After the storm, please continue to stay off roads and use caution, as power lines and trees may be down, roads may be blocked, and flash flooding may be occurring. Those who live off campus are asked not to come back to campus until we reopen, unless you are essential personnel instructed to do so by your supervisor. This will allow LSU Police and Facility Services time to assess and clean up the campus.

We will announce any changes to the academic calendar after the hurricane.

If your vehicle is parked in a low-lying area of campus, you may want to move it to higher ground. All vehicles must be returned to their assigned parking zones by 7 a.m. the day that campus reopens to avoid a citation. If you decide to move your car, please do so immediately, before weather conditions worsen. For information on which LSU parking lots are prone to flooding, visit the LSU Parking website and social media channels.

Please also remember to continue following all COVID-19 protocols during the hurricane.

Any student with an urgent medical issue during the storm can contact a Student Health Center medical provider by sending a new message through the Patient Portal to “New Questions.” For those in need of crisis and emotional support, call The Phone, a 24/7 helpline, at 225-924-5781.
