Thats not bad. If he makes landfall north of WPB most of the metro area will be relatively out of Catastrophic dmg.

However, if he moves 50nmi South of that.

We have some VERY VERY VERY big problems.

Why do planes come from NOAA and AF? Why are two agencies involved? Are there different functions or different data collected?

Which sucks because looks like Dorian may be rapidly intensifying.

There are planes that do high altitude recon as well as the Hurricane Hunters we all know.

Atmosphere has multiple layers that must be accounted for in modeling and forecasting.

But seriously hope the models continue with an eastward shift because like Duke said looks like Dorian wants to make a run at Cat 5 status.

We don’t even own a coffee pot. Can’t get better coffee than a French press.

I'll admit to having to Google to find out what a French press was. I see you need boiling water for one. Got a teakettle to go on your grill's side burner?

As Andrew approached I filled both my thermoses. That lasted the 1st day, while the weather was too bad to even think about moving the grill outside. W/o the coffee pot there would have been no coffee for almost a week -- a very untenable situation.

So it's possible this thing could swoop North and have another run in with Kevin the flag? Hell yes

I'm ~30 miles from there so maybe I'll pay tribute to Kevin if Dorian makes it up this way to visit. I'll scope out blue sheds on my way just in case.

Ppl here (Wilmington) are acting as if there is no hurricane. Local stations' weather reports are still kind of skimming over it, I guess to avoid causing ppl to panic. Still have quite a few apartments/houses/businesses that have blue tarps on the roofs and 2 hotels on Market St just reopened this week.
