I was in 6th grade when Andrew hit. School had just started, maybe a week, then we were out of school for a week, or more. This is the first hurricane I actually remember.

There's nothing funny about a hurricane. Even to those not affected.
However, I did chuckle when at the Weather Channel, someone decided it would be appropriate to give out warnings, etc. in Spanish, considering it was about to affect a large Spansh speaking area of residents.
Mike Seidel either drew the short straw, or fibbed on his resume that he was bilingual, nonetheless he read the Spanish warnings.
It was quite funny to me. Below is the example.
To follow up, later on someone figured out Mike wasn't cutting it, and they rounded up a real Spanish speaking person to read warnings.
