Richard J. Poster served time for possessing child pornography, violated his probation by having contact with children, admitted masturbating in the bushes near a church school and in 2005 was put on a sex offender registry. And yet the former Catholic priest was only just this month added to a list of clergy members credibly accused of child sexual abuse — after The Associated Press asked why he was not included.

Victims advocates had long criticized the Roman Catholic Church for not making public the names of credibly accused priests. Now, despite the dioceses’ release of nearly 5,300 names, most in the last two years, critics say the lists are far from complete.

An AP analysis found more than 900 clergy members accused of child sexual abuse who were missing from lists released by the dioceses and religious orders where they served.

That doesn't sound like something the church would do.

It is getting to the point where it is easier to ask which clergy members don't diddle kids.

Much like low level people in almost all organizations, regular old religious Catholics are frequently let down by their leaders

I think its pretty fricking sick this one priest was in the bushes at a church school... Looking through the window... jerking off.. That's one sick individual.

Apparently, no priest ever thought I was cute enough to molest.

I should sue for their harming my self-esteem.

Wish whatever psychopath coined this during the Kavanaugh hearings would be tarred and feathered.

The postmodern destruction of language has reached critical levels. They have made "accused" now mean "guilty" by adding a totally subjective qualifier.

Yeah it’s kinda dangerous to use that speak widespread but the church has to because people are holding their feet to the fire on this shite and they have a range of accusations because of that. Some evidence is better than others in the situation with creepy priests.

The bad thing is that.. If there is ever a case that goes to trial, that involves a priest and someone claiming they were sexually abused, how hard would it be to get a fair jury? But that I blame on all the priest who have actually committed these crimes.

Gross. And you so-called Republicans love your Catholic churches in Louisiana. Send your kids to private Catholic schools. Freaks.

Amen. Seems like every day there's some fancy new turn-of-phrase entering the public lexicon without ever being analyzed or agreed upon.

To "identify as" is another one. Sounds nice, and if you're not sufficiently mature and well-educated you might be fooled into thinking it's a long-established part of English thought.

My kids will go to public school so there's a 0% chance of teachers sleeping with students.

What else do you expect?

The abusers of twenty, thirty or forty years ago are today’s church leaders and Bishops.

They will always say oops.

The only way to get to the bottom would be to bribe the keepers of the names.

Them Bishop’s love money.

Considering the Catholic church had to borrow from the donation fund, which was supposed to go to people in need.. they may be willing to put that list up for bid,
