I can't even imagine the conversation about how to profit off a family member's death, especially when it involves e-panhandling.

Wonder if they talked about it before or after they collapsed in despair and rolled around the middle of the street howling about their loss.

Maybe they are raising money to try and pay you back and sent you the link just to show you that they are trying. I know that's probably not the case, so call them out on it

I would just let it go man. You did the a good thing, the right thing by paying for the funeral when you didn't have to. They also might be using that money for hospital expenses. Those can pile up, and come from so many different entities. Just let it go, and just don't address it. UNLESS, they try to pull some shite on you later in life, you always have that nugget to use on them.

We had the same thing happen recently.

One of my buddies died and 2 days later some a-hole set up a GoFund me for his wife without even asking her.

These are trashy and make the party seem destitute.

Why would your fiancé not at least ask them why they need money after you paid for the funeral? As said there's a lot more to pay for than just the funeral when someone dies.

Given that, did she have a job? Many companies especially almost anyone that uses a payroll company have minimum life insurance policies of $5-15,000 for all employees.
