How to you handle receiving calls when you can’t take them?

(A) Press the ‘Ignore Button’ (‘Remind me later’ button now with iPhone)
(B) Let the call ring through
(C) Other (List example)
I always try to go with (B) and let the call ring through, but press the button to silence the ringer. If I do happen to go with (A), I try to follow up with a text message saying I’ll call back in a little while.
On the receiving end, I don’t like the feeling of knowing someone hit the ‘Ignore Button’ on me and didn’t follow up with any type of message. A couple short rings then BAM voicemail.
If pressing the ‘Ignore Button’ let the call ring the entire way through on the other end, I don’t think it would be a big deal to use it. It just seems like you are giving someone a big "F U" when you press it.

Wait. People can tell when you hit the ignore button?

It actually has to do with my friend and I don't know why it grinds my gears so bad.

I hate both A and B because they usually resort in a useless voicemail that says call me back. I do try to follow up quickly with a text message.

It sends the call directly to voicemail so yeah.

I do what you do and just silence the ringer.

Better than answering it and acting like a perturbed dickhead because you are too busy to talk on the phone at that moment.

If I don't recognize the number I won't answer it. So at that point I likely don't GAF if they know I "ignored" the call so will usually do whatever makes it stop ringing and annoying me the fastest.

I always try to follow up with a quick text message (it takes like 2 seconds), because the majority of my friends will try to call a few more times "just to make sure," I guess.

Well if my ringer is on, I silence the ringer first and foremost*. Then I'll let the voicemail pick it up.
*I absolutely CANT STAND someone who will let the ringer keep ringing until it goes to voicemail, or someone who won't cut the ringer off while they're trying to read who is calling.

I hit the ignore button then press it again to send them straight to VM

There are other options than just ignoring the call or answering it and acting like a dick.

I honestly hate leaving voicemails because I don't like receiving them and don't like how I sound on them.
