I have the exact same setup. I cut a hole in the fireplace wall and in the ET cabinet at the correct size to receive the sheetrock screw on type conduit boxes. Used an actual fishing pole with string taped on one end, a flashlight shining through the other hole and simply stuck the fishing pole tip, with attached string through the illuminated hole. Here's the tip. Make sure your string is long enough to creat a continuous loop, that is tied together on ends, so that you can always pull wire when needed (HDMI cables can fail, future hookups to TV, etc.)Of course, when not in use untie the ends and leave slack string in your conduit boxes.

It's fairly simple as people have said. Order the brackets and wires from monoprice and it might be $40. Even if you don't want to wire the outlet yourself, get a stab-in outlet for behind the tv and run enough wire for the electrician to make the connection below.

You should get some wire fish tape, will make fishing wires in the wall so much easier.

I hired a guy at my old house to mount my tv and run the wires through the wall.
Are you retarded? It's one of the simplest things to do in your home with a little patience. Put some pants on, grab a coat hanger, and run the wires.

I cut my box hole in the sheetrock and used a 5' long 1" drill bit (from HD) to drill through the top plate (2x4 at the top of the stud wall in attic). My drill bit had a tiny hole in the end of it to allow a string to attach and then could be pulled down to pull the wire. I used the bare copper on the romex in the little hole and taped the coax and CA6 cables and pulled everything at once.
Then used a pop-in box in the hole I cut in the sheetrock with a fancy plate cover that looked great. But nobody sees it because the tv covers it.
Pretty easy, except the attic was hot as hell and my house has alot of blown insulation that sticks to you when you are sweaty.

Or get a recessed outlet like a civilized person.

Stud finder. However, my dad just built a new house and he installed a piece of 2x6 between the studs everywhere he plans on mounting a tv before closing in the walls. It's gonna be easy as frick to mount the shite
