Lieutenant General Troy Houston Middleton (12 October 1889 – 9 October 1976) was a distinguished educator and senior officer of the United States Army who served as a corps commander in the European Theatre during World War II and later as president of Louisiana State University (LSU). He is best known for his decision to hold Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, contrary to the recommendation of Lieutenant General George S. Patton, Jr., Commanding General (CG) of the United States Third Army.

This has gone far enough. It’s time for this race-pandering idiocratic garbage to end.

quote:

“Though we did not like it, we accepted Negroes as students," Middleton wrote UT chancellor Harry Ransom on Oct. 27 of that year.

"At no time,” the letter continues, “has a Negro occupied a room with a white student. We keep them in a given area and do not permit indiscriminate occupancy."

The letter goes on: "Our Negro students have made no attempt to attend social functions, participate in athletic contests, go in the swimming pool, etc. If they did, we would, for example, discontinue the operation of the swimming pool."

Because critical thinking is dead, many people are mindless zombies and the guf is selective of giving out souls.

Basically, its okay now to judge the past by today's morals. Troy didnt care for desegregation or for blacks, and is now vilified for his archaic views, despite how utterly retarded it is... its okay. Because stupidity is celebrated.

What year was this? I wonder what Edwards relatives and the library board members relatives thought of the subject at the time?

You cannot truly judge the past on today's ever shifting morality. That takes you down a slippery slope, removes context, and places the concepts of right and wrong at the mercy of the flavor of the month, which can very quickly reverse against you.

If you can't see the many, many potential issues with setting that precedent, congrats: you are the soulless retard drone i am talking about.

Eat shite.

Odd because:
quote:

Two years after his retirement, Middleton was appointed by Louisiana’s governor, John McKeithen, as chair of the Commission on Human Relations, Rights, and Responsibilities, a biracial panel aimed at keeping the peace following the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. By 1966, the National Conference of Christians and Jews selected Middleton for its annual brotherhood award. That year, the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters awarded Middleton a bronze plaque, honoring him as the Louisianan of the Year for his accomplishments in racial peace-keeping.
