How the hell is calling someone Fredo bashing Italians?

It is like saying that if you betray me and I call you Judas I am bashing Christians.
It is a reference to a movie and what the movie is about or who it depicts is meaningless in the context of calling someone Fredo which only is meant to mean they are the least worthy cog in their family.
