Get something casual set up for between now and NYE- to a woman interested in a man, 10 days is a long time to wait around. Tell her you need to get a gift for your sister/mom/aunt/grandma and need a woman's opinion. Sets you up as someone who cares about family, needs a woman's opinions, and doesn't mind shopping (all good things in the minds of us women). Plus it gives you easy out if it's going badly ("this scarf is great! Well I need to go get my tires rotated, see you!") or easy way to extend if it's going great ("I'm starved after all that shopping let's grab dinner.")

Or maybe he actually knows her well enough to have been engaged to her and find out she's bat shite crazy. And if he didn't know she was fricking psychotic till after the engagement then she does a good job at hiding it.
