Absolutely. He fricked that up not you. Don't make the mistake of becoming the friend that she wants to talk to about the break up of the engagement. If you so something with her and she starts to talk about the breakup, very politely but sternly tell her you invited her out to get to know her not talk about the breakup. Tell her she wants to talk about that call a girlfriend or a guy friend that is gay but you want to enjoy her. You will hit that shite that night.

Yeah trust me I know I screwed up, but we all kinda split up around the same time and I didn't want to ask her right in front my friend that just told me to lay off of her.
