That was just a code of conduct NYC had. They would do the same for the mobs in other cities.
There wasn't nearly as much to skim off of in NOLA as compared to NYC even when you factor in there being 5 large gangs in NYC.

My thinking is Godfather and New York nexus of power. It seems to me that would be the center of mafia power but that's why I'm asking. How could a relative unknown from NOLA have a reputation as the biggest of them all? Most outside of Louisiana still have never heard of him.

Why are some so fascinated with thugs? Especially of a certain ethnicity.

True, but prior to the 27 flood NOLA was considered the Paris of the west and was one of the major financial centers on the planet. At its peak, it was probably a top 5 city globally

You have a thug in the White House. Why not discuss him too? Rumor has it he is also mafia connected.

True dat. Largest city in the entire south. We suffer from the modern disaster of Latoya. Totally minimizes the image I had of NOLA

Anyone knew him on this board?

I think NOLA people, or people who write about him, see him as the largest figure. Sort of a folk hero type status.
A lot of time has passed as well. And he ran a business that thrived on people not knowing who he was.

Given a couple more centuries of pre-Industrialization New Orleans would have absolutely been established as the Queen City of the continent now and forever.
Without the ability to construct railroads and canals NYC, Chicago, and the rest would have never even approached NOLA’s importance. It’s truly the most naturally valuable piece of real estate in the Western Hemisphere.

Carlos came to pay his respects at a family deal in the early 70’s. The eff bee eye came calling shortly thereafter Not sure what pops & Mamere told them.

Serious question. David Ferrie. Was he connected? I know Oswald and Ruby were. And was Clay Shaw real part of the plot or just Garrison's imagination?

lol no it wasn't. At least not more so than a few other cities like Cincinnati, Denver, and San Francisco.
I mean, Montreal and Buenos Aires existed back then too.
