They say 300 sweet spot hits and a driver starts to loose it's pop overtime from there.

You serious about this? I hadn't heard that.

I currently have:
TaylorMade SLDR driver (2 years)
AP2 irons (3-4 years)
Cleveland wedges (10+ years)

Yes dead serious. Buddy of mine works at a golf course and the Pro who wasn't selling me anything and that has since became a friend told me this. Said driver, wedges, woods, irons should be change out order. And GA e that number of 300 give or take sweet spot hits as to start loosing it's pop from there. Not saying all at once but that starts it's downward trend.

I'm skeptical of that. I understand the idea, but not sure if I believe it.

As long as you're hitting well, I wouldn't change anything.

I recently upgraded my driver and 3 wood only because guys were consistently out driving me when I felt like I was hitting the ball really solid. Went and got fitted and realized I just needed a stiffer shaft. Bought a new driver and gained 30-40 yards off the tee.

Still have the irons I started playing with.
